Web Design & Development Case Study

Office of The Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger

Working with the Governor's in-house web team under the leadership of ex White House Internet Director Jimmy Orr, we helped re-develop Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's official website.

To their astonishment and in little over a month, we achieved every requested deliverable, including an adaptive publishing system that fetched inter-related content as it became available and adjusted the page layout accordingly to make best use of current information — all without the need for intervention from the in-house web team. It was/is the mother of all publishing systems, yet extremely easy to use.

In fact, we were probably too successful in reducing the in-house web team's role, because internal wrangling about future developments (for which there was no budget) and their lack of training (again no budget) ultimately led them to switch to a lesser technology the in-house team could already develop, that of course required more of their input to use and structure on a daily basis...

So whilst it was disappointing to see little beyond the revised styling being implemented, we take heart that the project would have seriously under-achieved or been totally scrapped, had we not shown the project leaders their goals were both achievable and realistic.

The adjacent slideshow uses our development server version of the Governor's website, which is available on a per enquiry basis.
